- 4 medium Russet potatoes (about 2 lbs)
- 4 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1 tsp salt (to taste)
- ¼ tsp black pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and peel the Russet potatoes; cut into even sticks about 1/4 inch thick.
- Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Drain and thoroughly dry the potatoes using paper towels.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or heavy skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the potatoes in batches for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels and season with salt and optional pepper while hot.
