- 1 (5 oz) can high-quality tuna, drained
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- ½ cup chopped celery
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Swiss)
- 2 slices sourdough or whole grain bread
- 1 tbsp butter for grilling
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard. Mix in the chopped celery and shredded cheese until well combined.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread butter-side down in a skillet. Add the tuna mixture on top, layer with additional cheese if desired, then top with the second slice of bread butter-side up.
- Grill over medium heat for about 4 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook for another 3 minutes until both sides are crispy.
- Just before removing from heat, add an extra sprinkle of cheese on top and cover loosely with foil for about one minute until melted.
- Slice diagonally and serve warm with your choice of sides.
