Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz dried spaghetti
- 1 lb ground halal beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 28 oz canned whole peeled tomatoes
- 1 tsp Italian herbs (basil, oregano, parsley)
- 1 small onion (diced)
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a bowl, combine ground halal beef, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and Italian herbs until just mixed.
- Form mixture into golf-ball-sized meatballs and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes until browned.
- While meatballs are baking, heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Sauté diced onion until translucent (about 5 minutes), then add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Crush canned tomatoes by hand and add to the pan along with Italian herbs. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Once meatballs are done baking, add them to the marinara sauce and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve over cooked spaghetti with extra sauce on top.
