- 6 cups fresh apples (Granny Smith and Honeycrisp), peeled and sliced
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Cold water as needed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- In another bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add cold water to form dough.
- Roll out half the dough into a circle for the bottom crust; place in pie pan.
- Fill with apple mixture; dot with butter. Roll out remaining dough for top crust, seal edges, and cut slits for steam.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
