- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup seasoned Italian breadcrumbs
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Pound chicken breasts to about ½ inch thick for even cooking.
- Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour seasoned with salt and pepper, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip in egg, then coat in breadcrumbs.
- Heat two tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken for about 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Layer marinara sauce over the chicken and sprinkle generously with mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
