- 8 oz pasta (spaghetti or penne)
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Boil salted water in a large pot and cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent (about 5 minutes).
- Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in diced tomatoes with juices; season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Lower heat and add heavy cream, stirring until well combined.
- Toss cooked pasta into the sauce along with basil and Parmesan cheese until fully coated. Serve hot with extra cheese on top.
