- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup whole milk (warm)
- 1 large egg
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In another bowl, whisk warm milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients to form a dough.
- Knead on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth. Let rise in a greased bowl for about an hour until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, roll out to half an inch thick, and cut into donut shapes.
- Heat oil to 375°F (190°C) and fry donuts for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before filling with whipped cream prepared by beating heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
