- 3 large yellow onions (about 2 lbs), thinly sliced

- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and salt, stirring to coat evenly.
- Cook for about 10 minutes until they become translucent, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce heat to low and continue cooking for another 30-40 minutes until golden brown and caramelized, stirring occasionally.
- If desired, add sugar during the last 10 minutes for extra sweetness.
