Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined; avoid overmixing.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Scoop dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden around the edges but soft in the center.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
