- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 ½ cups freshly shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place each chicken breast between plastic wrap and pound to about 1 inch thick.
- Set up three bowls: one with flour seasoned with salt and pepper, one with beaten eggs, and the last with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder.
- Dredge each chicken breast first in flour, then in egg, and finally in breadcrumbs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear the breaded chicken for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Transfer the chicken to a baking dish, top generously with marinara sauce, then sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
