Ingredients
- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
- 24 ladyfinger cookies
- Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
- Whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy. Heat over simmering water while gradually adding milk; cook until slightly thickened.
- Cool the mixture, then whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in mascarpone until smooth.
- Combine cooled egg mixture with mascarpone mix without deflating.
- Dip ladyfingers quickly in coffee mixture and layer half in a dish.
- Spread half the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers; repeat layering.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
