- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add softened butter; mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add milk while mixing until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cake bakes, macerate sliced strawberries with sugar in a bowl.
- Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form.
- Once cooled, slice the cake in half horizontally. Layer whipped cream and strawberries between the halves and top with more cream and berries before serving.
