  • 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil preferred)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 24 oz tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil salted water and cook lasagna noodles until al dente according to package instructions.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté chopped onions and minced garlic in olive oil until translucent (about 3-5 minutes).
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet; cook until browned (7-10 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce along with salt, pepper, and fresh basil; simmer on low.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  6. Layer meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish. Alternate layers of noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese until all ingredients are used.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden brown. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
