- 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil preferred)
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 3 cups fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 24 oz tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil salted water and cook lasagna noodles until al dente according to package instructions.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté chopped onions and minced garlic in olive oil until translucent (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add ground beef to the skillet; cook until browned (7-10 minutes). Drain excess fat.
- Stir in tomato sauce along with salt, pepper, and fresh basil; simmer on low.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Layer meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish. Alternate layers of noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese until all ingredients are used.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden brown. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
