- For the frosting: 8 oz cream cheese, 2 cups powdered sugar, ½ cup unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix vegetable oil and sugar until fluffy; add eggs one at a time. Stir in buttermilk, food coloring, and vanilla.
- Gradually incorporate dry mixture into wet mixture until just combined.
- Divide batter between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool completely before frosting with whipped cream cheese frosting.
