- 1 cup Whole Moong Dal
- 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
- 1 ripe Tomato, chopped
- 1 tablespoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
- ½ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
- 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
- 2 tablespoons Oil or Ghee
- 3 cups Water (adjust for consistency)
- Fresh Cilantro, for garnish
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Rinse Whole Moong Dal under cold water until clear. Soak in water for 30 minutes.
- In a pot over medium heat, heat oil or ghee. Sauté onion until golden brown (5–7 minutes).
- Add chopped tomato and ginger-garlic paste; cook until tomatoes soften (3–4 minutes).
- Stir in turmeric, cumin, and coriander powders; cook briefly to release aromas.
- Add soaked dal and water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30–40 minutes until tender.
- Adjust seasoning with salt, garnish with cilantro, and serve warm.
