- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter (cold)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 6 cups apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and sliced
- 4 tablespoons cold water
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until dough forms. Chill for at least an hour.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Prepare the filling: Toss sliced apples with sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- Roll out half of the chilled dough into a circle to fit your pie dish. Place it in the dish.
- Add the apple mixture to the crust and roll out the second half of dough for the top crust, sealing edges by crimping.
- Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape and bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
