Ingredients
- 2 pounds russet potatoes
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ½ cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups low-sodium beef or chicken broth
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
Instructions
- Peel and cut russet potatoes into even chunks. Place them in a pot of cold water with a pinch of salt.
- Bring water to boil over medium-high heat; cook until tender (15-20 minutes).
- Drain potatoes and return to pot. Add butter and cream; mash until smooth.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- For gravy, melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour until smooth, then gradually add broth while stirring until thickened.
- Stir in soy sauce for added flavor before serving over mashed potatoes.
